Job Description:
The Resnick Library is a hub for research, academic support services and social interaction. Students consistently rate the library among the top five campus resources. We provide a wide range of information resources and services for a culturally and academically diverse student body. Student services available in the library and learning center include group and peer tutoring, writing and math center, career counseling, ESL services and accommodated testing. The academic computing lab will be opening in the library in the fall 2010. Resnick Library is a member of SUNYConnect, a 64-member library consortium committed to shared library management services and collections.

Primary responsibilities include providing reference service and instruction in a variety of environments (in person, online and in the classroom), managing assigned subject areas of the library collection, and participating in the development and marketing of the library's online resources. In addition, the successful candidate will collaborate with faculty to integrate library information resources into student learning and assist with assessment of collections and instruction. All library staff members participate in professional and scholarly activities, serve on campus committees, and contribute to library and staff planning.

Requirements:
Required Qualifications: Master's degree from ALA-accredited graduate program; excellent communication, problem-solving and time-management skills; proven commitment to customer service; ability to work independently and collaboratively; willingness to relate constructively to colleagues, faculty and students. Working knowledge of educational information technologies (wikis, blogs, web pages, databases, digital imaging, standard office applications), and experience organizing and managing electronic journals and other E-resources.

Preferred Qualifications: Teaching at the college level, experience with student assessment and collection development; instructional technology and presentation skills.


Additional Information:

This is a full time, tenure track faculty position with an annual 10 month contract. Limited evening and weekend hours required during the academic year. Salary range: $35,000- $39,000. Excellent fringe benefits package.

Candidates invited to interview on campus will be expected to make a presentation to the search committee and library staff introducing library resources to a group of undergraduate students.
